So just becasue the lights flashed and the camera beeped does not mean you should change postitions, it is good to have a veriety of looks and photos but sometimes it is the little changes that can make the photo so much better. Try looking at a differant spot this does not mean to turn your head it means looking 1/2 a centimeter over. Some poses may look similar to others, but when you look closely, you will see subtle differences - sometimes just a turn of a hand or the positioning of an arm or leg, then change up your facial expression. If the photographer is like me and keeps shooting the same pose at diff. angles this means you are looking amazing and there is more then one right answer to this pose so stay still on those ones and work the camera with your eyes.

It is so funny how you can get such a beautiful shot and the eye goes right to the massive claw coming down the arm. Your hands always stand out in a photo, they don't usually make a shoot but they can break a shoot. My tips on hands are bend fingers at the joints anytime you can pinch material or softley touch things, run your fingers in hair etc. Also the pinky is much prettier then the thumb side! Never make a fist never grip things tight and NEVER hide your whole palm where only the fingers show and look like little hot dogs. Guys you can apply some of this but this tip is mainly for looking more feminine.

This tip is simple and easy, bring some visine with you to your shoot and or before your makeup is applied to clear your dry red eyes for your raw close ups to be that much better.

I have seen beautiiful girls not be so photogenic and average girls photograph stunning, it is important to relize that being naturally beautiful does not translate into being photogenic but it is about being confident and being aware how to project the best of you forward and knowing how to express your charmes to the camera. I tell girls to flirt with my camera and a new side of them awakens if they really apply it. Let go, jump in and enjoy working the camera, it's all or nothing baby.

Do you think your face photographs to round, find your source of light and then turn your head so the larger check/side of your face is in the shadow. You can apply the same thing for the body.

For sitting down in posses during your session it is normal to want to sit comfortable, I can't tell you how many times a friend will come with a friend for support during the shoot, and that is great but the friend will yell out "you don't look natural sit comfy and sit how it feels natural to you".
Let me tell you nothing about modeling is comfortable it should be work you pull the natural look off with your expressions and the way you present yourself. If your sitting doesn't mean it time for you to slack and recline back... try and put your weight on the back of one thigh, rather than distributing your weight equally on both. This will help with the slimming effect.

You know how in decorating you should buy in odd numbers like 3 or 5 and in photography it's the rule of 3rds, well modeling should usually be asymmetrical. For more interesting shots make sure you are doing something different with your body on each side. This doesn't mean one arm up the other hanging, it can be as simple as a pop in the shoulder or hip. Make your arms at different heights by bending one etc. One of the keys to a good image is the leading lines you create always leading the eye of the viewer around in a circle making their eye not want to leave the image.

So diet mode is on and your thinking I don't want to eat before the shoot, you head to the studio and your pumped and in the middle of your shoot your blood sugar drops you feel week and well basically not sexy. Bring a bottle of water and a banana it should perk you right up so your photos will show that personality. I don't get jealous when girls flirt with my camera!

One of the many reasons I love photographing dancers is because of there good posture, they present themselves with confidence relax their shoulders and hold an elegant posture.

Start now!!! Focus on your posture, it will not only help enhance your pictures and dramatically improve your dancing but you will present yourself healthier and more alert in life. Again practice in the mirror so you don't look stiff, relax your shoulders, breathe normal. Try to think about it trough out the day. That includes now while you are sitting here, Straiten that back!

Waist slimming photo technique- Rotate your upper body at the waist and you will find that it gives the impression of a thinner tummy area. This is a popular technique with many red carpet celebs. Again practice in the mirror so you can get the rest of your body feeling natural. (combined with other slimming techniques can look kind of funcky)

So one of the best dates I have had was a trip to studio with my sweetheart. He did some pushup's while I set the tri-pod up then we played around with the light. It was so much fun tastefully documenting our passion. Even though we are never at what we want to look like and could be I wouldn't give up anything documenting the now.
